Praelium

Engine: Torque 3D

Praelium is a first-person spell-casting game controlled almost entirely through voice-recognition.  Powerful magi of warring clans battle for control of the world and the elusive water magic.  Up to 16 players on 4 teams can battle via the combination-based spell-casting system, which allows the player to transform a small variety of magic words into over 50 unique spells.

Emerald Harvest

Emerald Harvest is a narrative design loosely constructed around the events of the Irish Potato Famine of 1845.  After accidentally awakening a great beast, the once-peaceful leprechauns of Ireland mutate into evil creatures bent on defiling the Irish countryside and destroying anyone who stands in their way.  Emerald Harvest presents a narrative that could be applied to a variety of game genres, but would primarily work as either a traditional adventure game or as an RPG. Visit the Emerald Harvest page for more information and a download of the narrative package.

The Lord of the Rings Online: A Systems Design Internship

Over the summer of 2009, I had a chance to work at Turbine, Inc. on The Lord of the Rings Online as a systems design intern.  It was a truly amazing experience and afforded me the opportunity to try my hand at design on a shipped product.  I was responsible for a variety of tasks, but my main project was aiding in the revamp of one of the game’s numerous zones, the Lone-Lands.  In order to help improve the player experience in this zone, I was tasked with documenting quests with lackluster or class-limited rewards and then creating and implementing new quest items that not only reflected the quest’s difficulty, but also gave every class an equal chance at equipment.  For more information on this internship, visit this project’s page.
